This is one of my favourite accompaniment dishes to go with Dal Chawal. Its very easy with minimum ingredients and tastes heavenly.
I had seen my mother make this traditionally Malvani / Koknani Dish.
Here's how I prepared it.
Wash and pat dry small sized capsicum ( about 6).
In a mixing bowl, add 1 full grated coconut, salt as per taste, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp Cumin powder and mix it well.
Now on each capsicum make one sideways slit. Do not slit open completely.
Into each capsicum, stuff above coconut mixture. Fill it enough so that it gets all the flavour of coconut.
In a deep pan, heat some oil ( about 2-3 tbs)
Into this add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp jeera, a pinch of hing, 5-6 curry leaves and let it splutter. ( This step I have added )
Now place capsicum into the pan. Cover it with a lid and let it cook on a medium flame.
Every 5 mins keep turning sides of the capsicum so that it is cooked perfectly. It should get charred on the side.
When it about done, add the leftover stuffing into the pan.
Serve this with steaming hot Dal Rice.
