Meet the Bee Behind the Buzz

The Talking Bee is a cozy corner of the internet curated by Sneha Dalvi a travel professional, storyteller, and self-confessed foodie based in Mumbai. What started in May 2016 as a passion project quickly turned into a growing blog that blends restaurant reviews, travel tales, and now, even home-cooked recipes.

Written in simple, relatable language, The Talking Bee was created for anyone looking to try something new whether it’s a hidden food joint in the city or a soulful destination off the beaten path. While the blog mainly features restaurant reviews from Mumbai, Sneha’s travel adventures bring a dash of flavor from all around the country and beyond. Since May 2020, the blog has also been home to comfort food recipes straight from her kitchen

Sneha is someone who loves to talk, travel, and eat hence, the name The Talking Bee. With an eye (and appetite) for discovering unique culinary experiences, she’s always buzzing around for her next story. Over the years, she has contributed to platforms like LBB Mumbai, Tripoto, and Trell, building a loyal community of readers who share her enthusiasm for all things food and travel.

A dreamer and a believer, Sneha is driven by her love for flavors and storytelling. Whether it’s beer, wine, gin, or just a great cup of coffee, she’s always down to try something new. Here's everything we ate in Arunachal Pradesh during our latest trip to the beautiful state.

Did we struggle to find vegetarian food? - No. There were always more than enough vegetarian options and if nothing else the local vegetarian thali that worked perfectly fine for us.

Is the food different from ours? - Yes by leaps and bounds! The subtle flavours of basic spices (mainly chilli) and the fresh produce makes you want to keep going back to it.

Never would have imagined I'd see John Mayer live! It felt like a dream come true to the young adult in me. The man is simply incredible and the concert was nothing less than magic! Seeing him switch guitars and songs while singing flawlessly, he stole our hearts 💜💜 A solo performance of this kind was a beauty to witness.

What we liked the most -
Penang Curry, Burrata Salad.
The cocktail although it didnt look as I expected, was really delicious.

Wish there were more vegetarian options beyond the burrata and avacado variants.
Overall a pretty good meal and service.

From Diwali to Birthday, there were many meals that were enjoyed at restaurants and here is a summary/ thoughts from my end.

1. Silver beach cafe Juhu - An all time favourite.
2. Luft (Picture missing) is an al fresco/ terrace bar in Andheri West (Veera Desai) the food was mostly good. The only thing we did not like was the sushi. Very bad! The highlight of this meal was flat 40% discount (Dont remember if it was 40 or 45% though) Service was good. Music and ambiance perfect for a meal.
3. We were craving desi Chinese even before Diwali started. And we came across this old school restaurant near Infiniti mall Malad called - Amma’s kitchen. Fab food. Genuinely nice staff and the pricing I dont remember seeing in the city anymore.
4. Cat Cafe Studio Varsova. Went here alsmot after 5 yrs. A lot has changed. They have also started charging an entry fee of 250 rs. per head. Very few food options. I remember eating Maggie here in the past (Which isn’t there anymore) Go here for cats only :P
5. Clubbing at Toy Room, Grand Hyatt. I had high expectations but it was an average experience. The DJ was too good though. The place felt quite congested. Shuts down at 1:30 AM. (Been to better clubs for sure.)
6. Breakfast at Westin Powai. This was absolutely worth it! The spread was huge. Especially the asian section at the buffet even had dim sums. Everything we ate was 10/10
7. AXO Lounge - Veera Desai. I would rate this average. Food was okay. Nothing worth praising. The staff was not trained and the service was slow. This is the place, where I got to know that the service charge can not be waived off if you pay via dine out/zomato apps. Learning!
8. Butterfly High Oshiwara - Went to a butterfly high outlet after 4 yrs. Oshiwara one, I didnt even know existed. The food was pretty good. In picture - Blue Cheese Kulcha. Service was good. Music was loud but fun. Go here only if you want to dance. You can not have a conversation with the music blaring in the background for sure. We ended up dancing for 2 hrs (I guess) Highlight - cocktails. Every cocktail was perfect!

Shelter Cafe is all about its coffee is what I thought about until I ate here. The food here does justice to the pricing. It's the high quality produce they use that makes the difference. Kudos to the chef, every dish here was praiseworthy!

This restaurant in Borivali serves some traditional gujrati dishes along with some global food. Sangria priced at 250 kinda blew my mind!!
In fact over-all food was reasonably priced.

Had this killerrrrrrr misal on the outskirts of Pune from a place called @jogeshwari_misal_official ( not sure if I've tagged the right account)
The misal and the tarri were 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The hot tarri kept coming and thank God they served Dahi along with it. It was much needed!
We also ordered Sabudana Vada. I didn't like that at all.
The place was super basic but neat. Service was prompt and a complete value for money.
