Restaurant Review: Food Bar Express, Kandivali

Food Bar Express- Kandivali

Location: Thakur Village

After their successful run at their #Borivali outlet, Food Bar Express opened in the busy area of Thakur Village. Known for the variety of food outlets, Thakur Village could have been a challenging place, but it actually turned into a good opportunity.


Owned by a brother-sister duo - Mr. Sujay & Ms. Manasi Surve, Food Bar Express is an eatery that caters to every kind of foodie. Being right next to the Thakur College of Management, it's a favourite among the students too.


We happened to go there twice to review two different menus. The first one was #Indian and the second was Continental.


Here is a list of dishes we tasted when we were invited by Food Bar Express

From the array of starters, we had Veg Seekh Kebab, Pesto Paneer, Paneer Achari Tikka And Malai Paneer Tikka.

The Malai Tikka was extremely creamy and had a beautiful nutty flavour of the cashews used. Veg Seekh was quite juicy as well.


All the appetizers range from INR 240-290 From the mains, we had the Veg Kadai and Egg Masala( approx INR 250 onwards) Seeing these being prepared in front of eyes only made us hungrier by the minute. Both the mains were delicious! These were polished off with assorted rotis such as Butter Naan, Missi Roti and Naan.


From the rice dishes, we opted for Paneer Tikka Biryani (INR 305) with Raita and Achar.

For all the dishes, the paneer used was super fresh, well-marinated and yummy!


Along with this food we had the Mint Mojito and Citrus Malt.


 

During our second review for covering the #continental menu, these are the dishes we ate.

Butter Garlic Mushrooms - My favourite with the most subtle flavours.

Hummus and Pita Bread (INR 270)

Veggie Farmhouse Pizza (INR 380) - This was a thin-crust fresh pizza with loads of assorted veggies used for toppings

Grilled Paneer Sizzler (INR 540)- We stepped into the kitchen to see our sizzler being prepared.

Paneer Double Date Burger (Double Patty)(INR 330) - This was a heavy, juicy burger with lots of caramelised onion, cheese sauce, lettuce and the freshest paneer patties. What I loved about this sizzler was a good portion of rice, creamy potatoes, corn and cheese stuffed into a capsicum and pepper sauce. What could have worked better would be more grilled veggies and some mashed potatoes :)


Here are some more recommended dishes that we have tried apart from the review.

Chilli Garlic Potatoes, Thai Curry & Rice, Truffle Pizza, Veg Mexican Wrap and sandwiches.


This place is also hugely favourite among non-vegetarians as the menu covers a good variety of meat and seafood.

Verdict :

Food Bar Express has been consistent with its quality of food and service over the past years. This outlet in Kandivali has an extensive menu that works best for everyone as it offers a good mix of Indian, Continental and Chinese food. We recommend you give this a try!
