Located at a prime setting of Princess Street, just a walk away from Vasco Da Gama Square, Forte Kochi is a heritage hotel that’s been in existence for over 200 years.

The hotel has been quite a popular spot among the #instagrammers because of its bright yellow colored walls and European appearance.

As you enter, you see the restaurant Jetty, that leads to the bar and that further opens into the stunning pool area.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with refreshing watermelon coolers.

Within minutes with a gist of their hospitality, we were floored and were excited to see what’s in store for us.

The Rooms Head – Jerin assisted us with the check in process and although we were super early, they happily accommodated us.

About the hotel

More than 200 years old, this #heritage hotel was a residence of a Jewish Businessman Mr. Koder. The family used to reside in Koder House (a heritage hotel) which is connected to Forte Kochi.

Forte Kochi was used as an administrative building for their business. The other wing of Forte Kochi which is now Old Courtyard ( Another Heritage Hotel ) This used to be residence of their sisters.

Throughout the architecture of the hotel you will see a #Dutch and #Portuguese influence from slant walls to blue tiles.

Paul John Resorts and Hotels have taken over Forte Kochi 3 years ago and they have made remarkable changes in the property such as converting the library into common sit out area, beautifying the wings etc.

Here is a quick reel of the exteriors of the hotel.

Details of the Rooms

As Forte Kochi is a #boutique hotel it has limited number of rooms i.e. 27 rooms. This ensures the exclusiveness of this hotel.

The moment you lay your eyes on its rooms, you will fall in love with it.

We stayed in the second category room ie. Imperial King Room

This room was huge!

The colonial luxurious bed in the center and comfortable wing chairs / loungers facing the windows welcome you with warmth. The tinted glasses of the windows add a vintage flair to it.

The rooms are thoughtfully decorated keeping in mind its heritage and yet maintaining the modernity with the amenities.

Wardrobe is vintage wooden Almirahs !

There was a fruit basket and a small plate of little somethings such as Banana Chip, Cashews and Til ( Sesame) Laddos.

Flooring with the traditional Portuguese Tiles and Wooden Roof! The rooms have high ceiling giving it the appearance of grandeur.

The bathroom is quite spacious with a bathtub. Floor and walls are adorned with Portuguese tiles. Bathtub was right next to the tinted windows that allowed ample natural sunlight to seep in.

After freshening up and building up an appetite, we headed for a lunch that was planned by the head chef – Gejo George. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, he sure knows the way to guest's heart :)

A detailed food review on below blog post

All our meals were on chef's recommendation. Our lunch at the restaurant Jetty was more or less a traditional affair.

For dinner, the team arranged a cozy experience by a poolside table.

We started our next day with a hearty breakfast.

Our overall experience was incredible. We were truly mesmerized by their level of hospitality which was nothing less than any leading luxury chain hotel in India. Extremely humble and knowledgeable staff with a high level of personalization.
