Review : Backwater Rhapsody, Alleppey

This boutique property is right on the banks of Vembanad Lake and has stunning views of it. You have to see it to believe it.

Practically speaking this is slightly away from the main #Alleppey town. About 15 mins and it gives you that break from the bustling town yet you are close enough for any sightseeing activities.

It has 4 rooms that overlook the pristine lake. Two rooms on the ground floor open into a lawn whereas the two rooms and additionally a suite on the first floor has a common sit out area.

There is a common dining area with a television. (That’s the only television in the entire property which is actually a good idea because it makes you spend more time with nature instead of being cooped up inside the room.)

The lawn space has a swing and another sit out space with a shade. It also has a pool.

Here are a couple of quick videos of the property.

Upon arrival at Backwater Rhapsody, we were welcomed with a glass of fresh lime water. Just what we needed in the scorching heat of #Kerala. We sipped on it while watching the houseboats passby in front of us.

We stayed in the suite which had ample space. After freshening up we had our little tea party arranged by the staff – Suresh and Pradeep.

What I really liked about this property is their eye for detailing and finer things. For instance the tea set that they served us the tea in was such a gorgeous find ! I couldn’t help but click multiple shots of tea before having it.

This was the set up for our chai-party !

We were also served hot banana fritters ( Pazham Pori) and Onion Fritters with the tea.

As the property is so close to nature, there is a bird sanctuary closeby. Because of which we could see many birds around.

We watched the sun go down and the change in the color of the sky from the sit out.

For dinner, the staff served us a homely #Malyali meal of Chapati and vegetable Korma. The next day, we had an early start of the day and we had Appam and Kadala for breakfast.

The best part about our stay was the personalised service. The staff was always readily available and anything we wanted to eat was made to order (we felt like VIPs indeed)

The owner took special care and made sure we were comfortable. He even recommended a few activities such as a visit to Revi Karunakaran Museum, Mararikulam Beach and sunrise peddling at the lake. It’s a shame we couldn’t do much however, we were more than happy to just laze at this beautiful property.

Note – They also have a unique tribal boutique resort in Varkala called – Bohemian Masala. We hope, we get to visit it soon !
