Matar Paneer Recipe

One of the top selling dishes in any vegetarian restaurant when it comes to Punjabi / North Indian cuisine. Here is a recipe of Matar Paneer. Hope you like it.

Slice about 2 onions and 2-3 big tomatoes.

  • In a pan heat oil and into the pan add above sliced onion and tomato. Additionally put 5-6 cloves of garlic and 1 inch ginger piece.

  • Let it cook for about 10 mins.

  • When its mushy, turn of the flame and let it cool down.

  • Once cooled, blend it in a smooth paste.

  • In a tadka pan dry roast about 1 tbs Besan ( Gram Flour )Keep it aside.

  • In the same pan we used earlier, add 3 tbs oil. Once heated, add 1 tbs Jeera, Hing, Bay leaf, 2-3 pieces of cardamom. Saute it for 2-3 mins.

  • Now into this add 1 big onion- finely chopped. Let it cook till it becomes brown.

  • Now add 1 tbs of Ginger Garlic paste. Let it cook for another 2-3 mins.

  • Into this add the Onion Tomato puree we had prepared. Keep stirring and cook for next 5 mins.

  • Add turmeric and coriander powder 1 tsp each.

  • Into this add 1tsp ( or as per your taste ) Red chili powder and salt and roasted Besan.

  • Add 1 cup green peas and 1 tsp Garam masala.

  • Let it simmer for next 10 mins on a medium flame.

  • Add about one cup water and stir.

  • Now add about 10-12 cubes of Paneer.

  • Slow cook for next 5 mins.

  • Garnish it with coriander.

  • Serve it with Hot Naan.
