The beautiful pictures of Harsil have brought you here, and now I'm ready to show you the amazing things you can do in this stunning Himalayan landscape..
Visit Gangtori Dham
Being close to Gangotri (Just an hour away) This can be your ideal pit stop for Char Dham. And even if you are not here on your Char Dham journey, I highly recommend a visit to the stunning temple of Ganotri. I went there with zero expectations and came back with content heart.
Note – During our visit the shrine was closed, however we could enter the temple and see surrounding areas. Due to non tourist season it was a pleasant experience with hardly any tourists or devotees around.
Visit Mukhba Village and Mukhba Mandir
As I have mentioned the Gangotri Shrine was closed at the temple, that is because its brought at the other village temple which is at Mukhba. Merely fifteen mins away, this temple is surrounded by old village with houses dating back to more than 250 years.
3. Visit Kalp Kedar Mandir
Another gem – Kalp Kedar Temple – We would have missed this if it wasn’t our driver who recommended us we visit it without fail. This temple is said to be constructed by Pandavas and you have to step down the stairs from ground level to reach this ancient temple. Apparntly, about 6-9 ft of the temple is still submerged under water.
4. Enjoy your stroll in the pretty lanes of Harsil Village.
Lately popular because of the murals all across the walls of pretty cafes, shops and houses – this tiny Himalayan village is close to Army Cantontment area. You can take a stroll, enjoy the Pahadi street food from momos to Pahadi chowmein and shop at the small local stores.
5. Gartang Gali
This small trek is one of the most popular spts around Harsil and I am sure you must have seen the pictures of its unique path made up of wooden stairs. This trek is about 2.5 kms and it offers beautiful views of Neylong Valley.

6. Neylong Valley
This picturesque valley close to Indo-tibet border needs a permit in advance. We are sure it will remind you of Ladakh!

PC - 365 hops
7. Lama Top
This very easy trek of about 2.5 kms can be finished in 2-3 hrs depending on your pace. It offers stunning views of Bhagrirathi river, Harsil and Dharali Village from top

8. Saat-tal trek
Another easy trek of about 3 kms, offers beautiful pathway through pine and deodar trees. There are apple orchards too if you happen to visit in the season you are in for a treat.

9. Village walk
Close to Harsil, there are many small villages but Bhagori is known for its artisans making traditional wollen clothes. The houses, similar to Mukhba village are old and date back to 200-250 years. In winter months, the locals move to Uttarkashi hence the village seems deserted but its very safe and we highly recommend you take a village walk here.
10. Apple Picking
A very fun activity of kids as well as adults, apple picking is not new to Harsil and Dharali, These villages are dotted with apple orchards and in season (September -October) you can enjoy this experience and have a slice of local life.
